An online article told me that the deprecation of Facebook’s market share affects investors and employees alike. On average they faced a loss of $ 2.000.000. That doesn’t just seem like a lot of money – it is a lot of money. What kind of loss did Facebook employees really suffer?
Employees are often offered stocks as a bonus for good work or as an enticement to come work for some company, like Facebook. Stocks are also given out to buy people’s loyalty to the company or simply because it is customary in their business sector. I wonder if we can call it an actual loss when the stocks you were given have dropped in value.
My sympathy goes out to those who have bought their stocks and are now witnessing large parts of their equity evaporate in the stock market.
